Moorhead Public Service Completes CIS Implementation with Advanced Utility Systems

Moorhead, Minnesota and Toronto, Canada. April 11, 2006.

Moorhead Public Service (MPS), of Moorhead, Minnesota has successfully completed the implementation of CIS InfinityŽ, the customer information and billing solution offered by Advanced Utility Systems Corporation (Advanced), and is now Live on the software.

Located on the Minnesota-North Dakota border, Moorhead is part of the metropolitan area of Fargo-Moorhead, West Fargo, and Dilworth. MPS provides electric and water services to approximately 14,000 customers and bill those customers for sewer, garbage, storm water and city-wide wireless internet (WI-FI).

CIS Infinity provides the flexibility and scalability MPS requires to deliver superior service to their customers. "Advanced has clients that bill for a wide range of customers and that makes us confident that CIS Infinity will be able to accommodate our needs not just today but in the future," explains Guy Thoreson, Administration and Finance Manager at MPS.

The development strategy at Advanced has always been directed towards integration. Instead of having a large number of individual, low-level interfaces with the data access layer, CIS Infinity has generic classes of interfaces (for example, financials and meter reading) which readily allows inter-operability with a multitude of industry tools. MPS is taking advantage of this approach through integration with ITRON MVRS for radio reads as well as Great Plains financial software. Advanced will configure CIS Infinity to handle Moorhead's WI-FI billing requirement in the future.

Patricia Sorbara, President and Chief Executive Officer of Advanced, describes some of the advantages that come with choosing CIS Infinity: "CIS Infinity takes advantage of sophisticated configuration tools in place of custom coding. This makes implementation faster, cost effective, user-friendly and reliable."

Moorhead is the second client of Advanced in the state of Minnesota, along with LOGIS (Local Government Information Systems Association) a not-for-profit consortium of 18 Minnesota government entities in the Minneapolis - St. Paul area.
