Grand Island, NE and Toronto, ON. September 22, 2015
The City of Grand Island (the City) has completed an implementation of CIS Infinity, the customer information and billing solution by Advanced Utility Systems, a division of N. Harris Computer Corporation (Advanced).
With their legacy system quickly becoming outdated and dependent on one IBM AS/400 programmer for technical support the City had decided to implement CIS Infinity to enhance the way they bill and manage utility accounts.
As a result, the City worked with Advanced on a successful implementation and seamless go live of their new customer information and billing system to ensure they had an application with the functional capacity required to serve its customer base.
In addition to CIS Infinity, the City also went live on Infinity.Link which provides the City’s customers with the ability to view their bill, pay their bill and 24 hour access to their account information in English or Spanish.
“It was important to the City that our new system streamlined our processes and expanded our customer service offering,” says Billy Clingman, Interim Finance Director, City of Grand Island. “With the automation, flexibility and functionality CIS Infinity and Infinity.Link provides, we are able to achieve our objectives.”
Peter Fanous, Executive Vice President of Advanced, comments on the technological benefits CIS Infinity offers the City: "Our solution was built using Microsoft development tools and it was designed so that system administrators could easily set up business rules, automation, and rates. As a result, we are proud to provide the City with a solution that eliminates the need for timely and costly custom-coding projects and the dependence on one individual for system support."
The City of Grand Island is the fourth largest city in Nebraska. The community serves residents in much of rural Nebraska including an area of over 20,000 square miles with an estimated population of over 200,000. The City provides electric, water and sewer services to over 25,000 customers in and outside of the City limits, billed on a monthly basis.
