Corinth, Texas and Toronto, Canada. August 18, 2003
Advanced Utility Systems Corporation (Advanced) is pleased to announce that CoServ Electric (CoServ) of Corinth, Texas, has entered into an agreement with Advanced that will provide CIS Infinity®, Advanced's state-of-the-art Customer Information and Billing software. CoServ, an electric cooperative and majority owner of CoServ Gas, began the search for a new CIS system in the winter of 2002. Their goal was to modernize their customer information and billing system to maximize the level of customer service the Cooperative offers to their members.
CoServ provides power for more than 91,000 residential and commercial accounts. In addition, CoServ Gas serves more than 20,000 customers. Members are billed for services on a monthly basis. Employing over 200 staff, CoServ has provided reliable and cost- effective electric utility service to its members in northern Texas for more than 66 years.
Denzil McGill, Director of IS at CoServ, is looking forward to beginning the implementation immediately. "It's been a comprehensive search process and we are excited about beginning the implementation. CIS Infinity will provide support for our evolving customer care vision. Our customer service team has been searching for a system that will meet our customer care objectives now and in the future."
Advanced will be completing modifications to CIS Infinity as part of the agreement with CoServ to meet their complex business needs. These include modifications to enhance CIS Infinity's Capital Credits, Membership information and Operation Round-Up functionality, which will be useful to all cooperative utilities.
CoServ is Advanced's second cooperative utility client, with The Peninsula Light Company in Washington State being the first.
"The enhancements we are building into CIS Infinity to handle CoServ's complex operations will further strengthen CIS Infinity for future clients" said Patricia Sorbara, President of Advanced Utility Systems. "For example, enhancing the application to more effectively manage Capital Credits and Membership information will be particularly beneficial to other utility cooperatives."
CIS Infinity's Rate Infinity technology is designed to handle any degree of complexity in a utility's rate structure, for a wide variety of residential clients and large industrial accounts, which is what made it the perfect tool to manage CoServ's complex rate structure.
Mr. McGill commented that, "CIS Infinity has given us the flexibility to run on UNIX, Linux or Windows NT and also gives us the option to change operating systems in the future, if necessary." CoServ will be running CIS Infinity using an Oracle database on the Linux operating system.
